If you're one of those people that hate going to hospitals unless you're almost dying, the best thing you can do is stick to prevention. And our iPhone makes it easier for us, controlling our workouts, sleep, calorie intake, heartbeat... But if we've also got an app of the likes of My Blood Pressure Readings, even better.

With this app, we can monitor our blood pressure history, taking note of when it increases or decreases, controlling our evolution during a certain period of time. It looks very similar to any other native iOS app, with the menu on the lower part of the screen, although its design could do with an overhaul.

All the data have to be input manually, which can be a handicap as it requires the user to be very consistent. But if you have to control your pressure due to any kind of problem or illness, it's definitely a great app to write down the data and view the info graphically. It's easy-to-use, multi-user, and with touch controls to access all the information easily and comfortably, as well as the possibility to share your results.

What is a normal blood pressure?

Before we continue, you should know that blood pressure figures can be divided into systolic and diastolic, and what can consider normal varies depending on the age and sex of the person. Systolic pressure is the maximum value when your heart beats and diastolic pressure is the maximum value when your heart rests between beats.

In general, we could establish the ideal blood pressure as 120/80 mmHg, where the first value corresponds to systolic pressure and the second to diastolic pressure, but the normal range is much wider. In any case, if you take your blood pressure on a regular basis and write it down on the app, you'll easily be able to view when you've got high or low blood pressure.
